RECIPE OF THE MONTH: SUMMER FUN WITH PINEAPPLES

FUN AND DELICIOUS WAYS TO ENJOY TROPICAL FRUIT

During the summertime, we not only enjoy beautiful weather and vacations, but also indulge in a variety of foods that scream summer, such as fruits. Fruits are sweet, colorful and fun to eat individually or with your friends and family. One fruit that should be enjoyed during the summertime is pineapples.

Pineapples are one of the most popular tropical fruits eaten during the summer season. Also, pineapples contain various vitamins, enzymes to help with digestion and disease-fighting antioxidants. Pineapples have additionally been reported to build a better immune response and reduce the risk of cancer.

They can be added to salads, smoothies, fruit bowls, or they can be eaten individually. However, in the spirit of the summer you should explore another festive option when it comes to indulging in tropical fruit: pineapple bowls.

Rachel Maser, “Clean Food Crush”

You can create a pineapple bowl by cutting a pineapple in half with a paring knife. Then you want to cut out the core of the pineapple to give the fruit the appearance of the bowl.

Also, the core of the pineapple that you remove should be put aside for later because many pineapple bowl recipes require incorporating the leftover pineapple core chunks in the recipe. When you have finished creating the pineapple bowl, you can fill it up with any type of fruit, vegetable, or dish of your choosing.

If you choose to fill the pineapple bowl with a dish that is packed with healthy fruits, grains and protein, you should try making the pineapple smoothie bowl. The pineapple bowl is filled with strawberries, pineapple core chunks, protein powder, chia seeds, and coconut water.

You can also add other healthy toppings such as nuts, granola, and sliced fruits. This smoothie bowl is very filling and contains a lot of important nutrients, depending on the fruits you decide to add into the recipe.

Kelly, “Trial and Eater”

You can also try a spicy but sweet recipe of a pineapple bowl called the pineapple pico salsa. This recipe is a salsa that contains bell peppers, cilantro, jalapeño, red onion and pineapple chunks.

Katrina Scott, “Tone It Up”

There are a variety of recipes to try when it comes to pineapple bowls, ranging from sweet and light to spicy and savory dishes. Whichever recipe you choose will bring a fun and colorful experience, all while staying healthy this summer.
