Valentine’s Day is around the corner and love is already in the air. This means that it is time to look a little more groomed or pulled-together before your date night. Whether it’s a first date or a nice dinner with the husband away from the kids, achieving properly glowing skin and sultry eyes takes a little work and some handy tips.
The foundation to flawless makeup will always be skin care. Ensure that your skin care regimen is in place as you proceed to look fabulous for that specific date. In addition to this, you might want to do a bit of research and find out what is trending out there, and most importantly what do you already have in your possession that may be able to “transform” you. Here are some helpful tips that will leave your significant other gaping at your beauty:
Always use a matte primer before applying your foundation. This will help with sealing/setting your look, and if you also have oily skin it will decrease any shiny faces.
Once you’ve applied foundation and worked out how much coverage it’s given you, you can apply concealer where you need it. Mac’s Longwear Pro Concealer is a great option. The coverage is easy to blend and it hides dark circles without “caking” on too much product.
Next up, a subtle blush, such as one of Bobbi Brown’s Brightening Bricks. Less shimmery and more iridescent, this imparts a beautiful flush on the cheeks. Fairer skintones should try the shade “Pastel Peach”, while if you have a darker skintone, “Cranberry” is very flattering.
Your eyebrows are key to shape and compliment the rest of your facial features. I suggest a gel liner if you have advance techniques in applying your own makeup and an eyebrow pencil if you are a beginner to intermediate as these tools have better controllability.
If you want to keep it as natural as possible, I would suggest to go light on the eyes, especially if it’s a surprise location. For a more clubby or seductive ambience, you could never go wrong with a smoky eye!
The most important tip that I can share with you is that it is imperative for you to use techniques and products that will be user friendly and, of course, trendy yet affordable. Date night is about making memories with that special person in your life, and makeup should not add to your stress, but on the contrary enhance your experience!
