LUXE MAN SPOTLIGHT

Comedy has always been a form of of entertainment that has uplifted the world in a number of ways. During this past year we needed more than ever but with us needed the world has become more sensitive to the art. We had the pleasure of speaking to comedian Oscar P. regarding the state of comedy and his journey in the industry.

Q: Over the years, the world has become more sensitive towards comedians, why do you feel that is and what are thoughts about it?

A: I have been able to bring laughter to myself and my audience by remaining honest with all my flaws, and big mistakes. I’ll take my life situations from being a family man & a business owner and turn it into comedy that relates to people in everyday life.

Q: Please tell our readers, how did you get your start in comedy?

A: I got my start in Comedy in Memphis Tennessee in November 2012 at a small bar and
Grill by the name of loose goose. After that I just start working open mics and went to the
funny bone where I met Lester Bibbs and became a host at the club until Chuckles
Comedy House up.

Q: Comedy brings laughter to the world and helps people cope with life. How have you been able to bring laughter to yourself during these trouble times?

A: I have been able to bring laughter to myself and my audience by remaining honest with all my flaws, and big mistakes. I’ll take my life situations from being a family man & a business owner and turn it into comedy that relates to people in everyday life.

Q: Do you feel comedians today are elevating the industry?

A: I feel that Comedy is taking hits just as all other genres of entertainment .Still there are comics who are constantly pushing the limits of comedy by challenging the norm, questioning those in control and influencing the world.

Q: Now I want to switch gears a bit, please tell us what was the best lesson your father taught you regarding becoming a man?

A: The best lesson my father taught me was to go to work. He always woke me up early between 530 and 6 am every morning and said get out the bed and go to work. No matter what the situation or what I’m going through I hear his voice saying, “Oscar gets up and go to work.” I will be the best I can be because I am going to go to work.

Q: Do you feel there is a disconnect with this generation of young black men? If so, why do you feel there is?

A: I definitely, feel that there is a disconnect between this generation of young
black men in my generation. I feel this way because I know that we complain about the
monster we created. A child’s error is a parent’s responsibility. We dropped the ball is
being a complete effective efficient village to these wayward youth.

Q: In what other ways do you give back and help the younger generation?

A: I have always been a mentor in every neighborhood I lived in. Take young brothers and train them in HVAC. I volunteered at Knowledge Quest.

Q: What sets Oscar P apart from the rest?

A: Oscar P is a husband, father, lover of animals,
compassionate asshole that see the world from an angle of we all can do better. I am at
fault, you are too. We got to love.

Q: What is next for the “Oscar P”?

A: Was next to ask Oscar P is to make his way into movies, sitcom & travel the entire world spreading humor & love with hint of a little jerk. That’s why I’m the polite jerk.
