SPOTLIGHT INTERVIEW

Luxe Kurves chatted with photographer Aaron Lacy who often shoots the cover photos for Luxe Kurves Magazine. We got to learn more about Aaron, what inspires his photographs, and his favorite part of working as a photographer. Be sure to check out Aaron’s website.

EW: How did you start working with Luxe Kurves Magazine?

Lacy: A makeup artist friend of mine referred me.

EW: What do you love most about working with Luxe Kurves Magazine?

Lacy: The energy of the team was excellent. The better the energy and positivity, the more smoothly the production goes. I enjoyed the teamwork aspect and the unity.

What motivated you to pursue a career as a photographer?

Lacy: I have always been interested in creating. Specifically, I’ve been interested in people. I began drawing portraits of people when I was a child. By the time I got to college, I realized that I enjoyed photographing people.  I dove deep into fashion and beauty photography and developed a passion for it.

EW: Do you have a favorite photoshoot you have ever done?

Lacy: That’s difficult. I don’t know if I have a specific favorite, and sometimes images I take fall in an out of favor with me. I did enjoy shooting many of the images from my Milk Series.

EW: Is there a message you try to convey through your images?

Lacy: I believe that as a photographer, your images are a method of speaking. The messages that I convey change with my inspirations. I am inspired by different things on a regular basis and as a result the messages in my work evolve.

EW: What are your inspirations for photography?

Lacy: I am inspired by contrasts and contradictions; Things that exist together that one would think should never occupy the same space. I try to find the beauty in differences. I am inspired by beauty and its various interpretations. I am inspired by social and political issues. So many things evoke an emotion within me and these things move me to create and transfer this energy to my work.
