HOW CELEBS GIVE BACK
We all love reading about our favorite celebrity: the places they go, their latest project, what they are wearing. But did you know that the majority of celebrities support various philanthropies and organizations to give back to their community? Often, these celebrities may choose to work with organizations that are near and dear to their heart, so there is a connection to the work. Others even create their own foundations to help those in need. In light of recent events, celebrities have shown even more acts of kindness to support those impacted by COVID-19 and to bring attention to the #BlackLivesMatter movement. Keep reading to see which organizations some of our favorite celebrities support!
Of course, we had to include Lizzo on this list! She is a mega-superstar who has risen to fame recently, and we couldn’t be happier about it! Aside from belting out her hit songs “Juice” and “Truth Hurts,” Lizzo also gives back through her tunes. In collaboration with Caroline Smith, Lizzo partnered with the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota to help in supporting the women of Minnesota. All proceeds from the song are donated to the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota. How cool is that? Girl power!
Both on-screen and off, Viola Davis is a force of nature when it comes to empowering others. Davis has teamed up with the non-profit organization Hunger Is to put an end to childhood hunger which is something she faced as a child. She knows firsthand how important every meal is and has made it her mission to stop this tragedy of childhood hunger in America. She is truly an inspiration!
Michael B. Jordan
You may have seen Michael B. Jordan as the star of “Black Panther.” When he is not busy being a superhero, he finds time to give back to others. Last year, he announced his production company’s new partnership with the Obama Foundation. When you have the support of a former president, then you know you are doing something right. Through this partnership, Jordan has made it his goal to give opportunities to black youth to find success in the entertainment industry making what can be a very unattainable dream reality. Maybe he can find the next Denzel Washington through his philanthropy!
