Control Your Own Narrative

“You become a Master of Your Life When You Learn How to Control What You Give Your Attention to.”

Happiness is a state of mind, and you hold the key to what controls your peace of mind. You hold the power to control the narrative of your life and perception(s), especially during a time such as this. The Corona Virus has allowed us all to see things from a much different perspective given the necessary restrictions throughout the current pandemic. We’re all forced to decipher between the information spewed daily by our media; which has created such an uproar of unpredictability. To many it may seem like a downward spiral that just doesn’t seem to get any better. However, I’m here to remind you that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. There is so much opportunity in this moment to reset and restart. The world has slowed down so that we can rediscover ourselves and the world around us. This is a moment for us to expand in our gratitude and appreciation of life, family, and close friends because at any moment anything can happen. We must control the narrative of our lives because our perception is our reality, and what we focus on the most become most prevalent. Take this moment to think about what you think about? Being accountable to yourself is much more than staying on top of your busy schedule and/or goals. Accountability is a frame work that keeps you responsible to yourself and your daily thought processes. Remember, happiness is not determined by what’s happening around you, but rather what’s happening inside you.

I want to leave you with some techniques that will help you maintain a positive mental frame of mind.

1.)    Take a Step Back from The Problem

One way to regain a positive mindset is to take a step back from whatever negative information and/or situation that is bombarding your daily thoughts. This will allow you to re-gain clarity over the circumstance so that you are able to respond accordingly without reacting in fear, frustration, or panic.

2.)    Focus on Your Goals

Given the fact that we have so much downtime this would be the perfect time for you to start/finish that project that you’ve always thought about, spend quality time with your family, and/or dive more into your spiritual practices. Whatever you decided to dedicate your time and attention to, make sure that it is positive and edifying to your self-care journey.

3.)    Count Your Blessings

Please remember to count your blessings because the truth of the matter is someone out there may be in a much worse predicament.  Throughout this pandemic, we must stay in a place of abundance by staying in constant gratitude. A gratitude list is a great way to stay thankful while reflecting on what’s going right in your life.
