As I reflect , I can’t help but to feel extremely powerful as a women. Together, in unprecedented numbers, we gathered our voices in unison, as we demanded equal pay rights for all women. We commanded the world’s respect, as we rallied alongside one another in support of the “Me Too” Movement. We broke record breaking numbers in the world of politics, as we stood as a united front, during the 2018 midterm election. This is a reflection of the great power women possess when we collectively work together.  The future is indeed female; as women all over the world are taking a stand to change the status quo, for future generations to come.

In making such great strides toward a remarkable future, I want to educate you on the importance of balanced self-awareness. Being super women has its benefits, however, even the most powerful super woman needs time to decompress. As a professional certified life coach, I am aware that you are unable to be as effective in your homes, at your jobs, or within your community if you have not taken the time properly take care of yourself first. Integrative wellness includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being; it affects how we think, feel, and act. Self-care prevents burnouts, self-care is known to reduce the negative effects of stress, and self-care helps you to refocus.  Our mental health determines how we handle stress, relate to others, and make proper choices. Many women are unaware that stress has effects on how we interact with the world around us, and I recognize that it is my proper due diligence to hold you accountable to yourself throughout the remainder year of the year.

Below are some tips to help you to center your energy and practice more self-care.

Recognize that self-care is not selfish

Practicing self-care is preventative, not selfish. Taking personal responsibility for one’s physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual health is so important. One of the many barriers for women is the idea of feeling guilty for practicing self-care. Remember, if you are not taking the time to fill up your inner being with the love, and time you need, then there is a great chance that you will not be as productive as you would like to be. So there is no need to feel guilty, as self-care is a basic necessity.

Make Self-Care Time a Propriety

When setting your schedule and intentions for the week, be sure to schedule time for your self-care. If you have it written down and scheduled in your planners, you are far more likely to stick with it and make it happen. Schedule Self-Care Time, its imperative to your well being.

Let Go of Negativity

I am a firm believer that you are what you attract, so, it’s important that you to let go of anything that no longer serves your greater good. Life can be hard enough, so there is no logical reason to keep toxicity around as you continue bark upon yourself care journey. I will admit that eliminating negativity from your life can be difficult initially, especially if the dysfunction of your negativity has somehow become a normalcy. However, negativity becomes a habit and can be difficult to break, but learning how to let negativity go can free up so much more mental and/or emotional space
