In one way or another, most of us have heard of Coachella. This incredible music and arts festival started in 1993 at Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. Polo is a croquet sport, while on horseback. This requires fields of grass, which happens to be the perfect spot for a festival. This year the lineup continues to grab our attention with artists, kicking it off, such as The Weekend, SZA, the Norwegian DJ Kygo, Jamiroquai, St. Vincent, the War On Drugs, Vince Staples, and many more–all on Friday April 13th and April 20th. The excitement continues on Saturday April 14th and 21st with the incredible vocalist Beyonce, HAIM, Tyler the Creator, David Byrne, alt-J, Post Malone, Fleet Foxes, and the list continues. Wrapping it up on Sunday April 15th and 22nd is songwriter, producer, rapper, and actor, Eminem. Following him is the electronic duo ODESZA, Portugal, the Man, Migos, A Perfect Circle, Cardi B, Miguel, and once again the talent continues.
The artists and bands among this group that they have chosen this year are very diverse. If you are a rock lover, hip-hop, rap, pop, etc, there is something for you at Coachella. The experience of being around thousands of people, phenomenal music, unbelievable food, and lighting to tie it all together is an experience to remember. If we all recall, those of you that were planning to see Beyonce at Coachella last year were saddened by her choice, although justified, not to perform. She was replaced with Lady Gaga due to her pregnancy and doctor’s orders; but she is now back to take her headline spot.
Each year Coachella provides tons of talent and in 2018 it will be no different. The Weekend more than likely will start things off with a few of his top hits. Those include “Starboy,” “Earned It,” and “Can’t Feel My Face.” Another headliner, Beyonce, will hopefully sing “Sancastles,” “Love Drought,” and “Slow Love.” Most of us are expecting Beyonce will also perform with Eninem on his song “Walk On Water,” which she is featured in. This song is a wonderful combination of their talent and beautiful truth. Eminem also has a song that features The Weekend called “Here With Me” that we would expect to hear as well. With Beyonce and Eminem headlining though, there is one surprising factor. Why isn’t Ed Sheeran performing? Not only are his songs heartfelt, warm, and inspiring, but he also collaborated with both Beyonce and Eminem. This would have made for the show to be even greater, however it will be unforgettable regardless. All the artists performing have a statement to make and we expect to see that on stage.
