LUXE MAN: ELWOOD “MR. KLASS” INGRAM

-

NO: Thank you for being a part of our November Luxe Man special issue. This month we are highlighting Men’s fashion, health and fitness and lifestyle. Can you tell our readers a little about yourself?

MR. KLASS: I am Elwood “Mr.Klass” Ingram a Baltimore native. A Father of three beautiful girls Zebrea,Zaryah,Alana Denise Ingram. At a very young age, I always knew I thought different from others. I never felt the need to fit in I always wanted to stand out from the rest. I always enjoyed helping people and making sure at some point to put a smile on their faces. I do my best every day to find the positive in even the most craziest situations. I seek all of the answers I need from the man upstairs. My goal every day is to make today ten times better than yesterday because we can’t change the past but we can change our future. Klass is the name mogul of fashion is my game, Why u ask because anything less would be uncivilized.

NO: Men’s fashion has been making a huge comeback and impact in society over the past year, why do you think that is?

MR. KLASS: I personally think that Men’s fashion has never really disappeared. To me, it is that allotted people just wasn’t waking enough to really pay attention to Men’s fashion. A lot of men and people in general just went with off the rack or what they saw in the window as well as just settling for what was the talk of the town. Instead of skipping past the window and the talks of the so called fashion gods of the industry to later on find out that most of them never wanted us African Americans to even wear their clothes.

NO: In what way do you feel the “Black Man’s” style has influenced the fashion industry? Black men has always ruled the fashion industry. Most people don’t care to know that all these fashions the so called Idealize Dapper Dan’s creative vision actually made them who they are, without his creativity they would not be. People fail to realize rather they want to admit it our not African American Singers,Boxers,Rappers, all walks of the sports industry give them the ability to never really need commercials to advertise. We are the trend setters of every brand out there. We just tend to follow suit ohh this artist has that wow I have to get ahold of that just to come closer to that feeling of being on top. We have Balls, Gala’s, Red Carpets and the first thing folks want to know is who or what brand you are wearing. That Moment when we start jumping outside of the typical trendy box and really start to evolve into our own creative thoughts we can really change the fashion industry for the better.

NO: What designers have influenced your style of any?

MR. KLASS: I will say no one I particularly has influenced my own personal style because not to sound cocky but I never want to look like anyone else or have someone say oh I seen that look on this person or that person. Mr. Klass is a one of a kind Klass act. I do have my personal favorite designers who’s is Carl Trodgon creative vision of Alek Risimnic Couture. Just the way he plays around with all fabrics is amazing. It’s like some of the things I have visioned or would love to see I look up and he has created something that is even better. Also Egypt Ufele of Chubliiline LLC A 14 year old whom I consider the queen of NYC. She has turned her pain into triumph. She used all the negative vibes that others seen ugly or obese and turned it into tru beauty and it speaks in every piece of clothing she creates. As well as inspiring young women all around the world that have been a victim of being bullied.

NO: The climate in the world today is at an all-time high of people showing more hatred. What are your views and thoughts about it? What do we need as a community to improve it?

MR. KLASS: I personally feel that if we actually took the time out to know that we are all created equal and we are all created with “OPINIONS” and stop taking things so seriously that we should not allow someone perception of themselves really reflect how they are to act. To never let someone’s else’s energy determine how we react to things. We really need to focus on our future which are the kids. They are the ones who will lead way after we are gone. They are the ones who really needs to be empowered because I truly believe that they are lost to what is real and what is reality now ah days. Their are more followers being raised then Leaders. They want things right now they don’t want to live out the process of getting what they already have inside who’s is knowledge Love and Support. That the tru fight can not and will not be won with guns and violence. Only tru prosperity shall be won with unity and not knocking another person back to try and take their spot but to build a spot for ones self.

NO: As a black man in today’s society,

what can you tell the young men who are seeing all the hate and racism? What advice would you give them?

MR.KLASS: I would tell them to please stay in school get as much knowledge as possible because we need more leaders to be born we need more lawyers another Black president. Real leaders to actually learn how to think for themselves and never react off of impulse. We were the first real whodini’s. We were the first to have others think we were dumb and couldn’t do things. But with the power of knowledge we were able to pro vale and grow as our own just like the Rose that grew from concrete.

NO: If you were able to have a 10-minute conversation with Kanye West, what would you tell him?

MR. KLASS: If I ever had the pleasure of speaking with Mr. West I would tell him keep being great because first people laugh then they mimic or copy. I would want to know what made him keep going after he had been turned down by so many fashion designers so many sneaker deals loosing millions of dollars and getting so many doors shut in your face. To now having one of the most top selling sneakers in the world. To now doing Sunday service and still selling out in stores world wide. What do you do to stay so grounded. On a regular day from the time you wake up what does your day consist of. I feel he is a great man and I get everything he says and how he speaks things into existence since he came out.

NO: What is one thing you would say to all women?

MR. KLASS: The one thing I always say to my beautiful queens Zebrea,Zaryah,Alana my life is that u shall never ever let anyone tell you whom you are you are the only one that can tell your story. Never ever let society or T.V or any magazine tell you what beauty is. You are always beautiful smart and different and never be afraid to let the would know whom you are rather they like it or not YOU ARE YOU AND ITS ONLY ONE YOU. And that is what makes you uniquely and Wonderfully made.

NO: How would you define the “Luxe Man?”

MR. KLASS: I define Luxe Man as a man of character a man of Klass a man that lets nothing stand in his way. A man that is disturbingly Unique. A Man does all that he can to build each other up and never tear  another man down

NO: What do you want your legacy to be?

MR. KLASS: I am striving for my legacy to be that I always wanted to empower others to make life better for someone else. To know that I always went against the grains of fashion tested my limits or what others thought would not work. And most of all that I am a loving father that would stop at nothing to put a smile on their faces. That I still believe that Baltimore is still a great place and I still believe that the best is yet to come for our city. Mr. Klass shall be a house hold name for which stand for uniquely made always looked good smelled good and walks with such confidence like no other. Anything else would be uncivilized. As well as a True Dallas Cowboys fan win loose or tie he was that until the day he dies.
