“When you get SLAYED BY ZAVI, get ready to SHUT IT DOWN”

April is our bridal issue! Discussing all things weddings and more! Why do you think weddings are an event that we must always celebrate?

Finding true love is an incredible feeling. Weddings are an expression of our love. Truly an event that we should celebrate because it’s the time that gather with our family and friends the people we love most.

Why did you to choose become a Fashion Designer?

As a young boy my mom taught me how to sew and I started out making clothes for family members.  Then I made my cousins prom dress and the rest is history! I chose fashion design because I love the way my designs make people feel.  It’s a superpower to create a garment that makes someone feel special, empowered, glamorous and confident.

How would you describe your personal style?

I would describe my personal style as glamorous, sparkly and unique. As a young boy I was always obsessed with Royalty, Kings and Queens.   So that reflects in my personal style and in my brand Zavi.

What is the one thing you would tell our youth about being confident?

Confident is so vital in everything we do. It’s important to always believe in yourself and that you can accomplish anything with hard work, determination and perseverance.

What do you want your legacy to be?

My vision for my legacy is to be a global brand and to be the first official black haute couture designer.  Last year I was the first African American designer to present a collection in Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris,France so that alone has given my brand a monumental start.  I also want to inspire black peoples worldwide; that it doesn’t matter where you came from or where you were born.  You can do anything you set your mind to.
