Who doesn’t want perfect skin? But achieving an amazing complexion can seem like a daunting task, especially if you weren’t blessed with the radiant and flawless skin gene. So how do you keep your face impeccable and selfie-ready? Here are some guidelines to help you even out your skin tone and achieve a complexion that would make Beyonce jealous.

  1.      START WITH GOOD SKIN CARE

Exfoliate and hydrate your skin on a daily basis with products designed for your skin type. At-home peels containing glycolics and salicylics will help smooth your skin’s texture, pores, and neutralize redness. Products with vitamin C can help brighten your skin and reduce melanin production to help alleviate dark spots and pigmentation issues. Skin brighteners and dark spot correctors, like Clinique Even Better, work to lighten dark spots and even out the complexion. Don’t forget the sunscreen, no matter how fair or deep your skin tone. And never pick at blemishes! This can causes scarring.

  1.      USE A MAKEUP PRIMER

If you don’t know, you better ask somebody! Primer helps makeup go on smoother and last longer. Choose a cream, gel, or powder formula suited to your skin type (dry, normal or oily) to create a flawless canvas for your makeup and minimize enlarged pores, fill in fine lines, and reduce the appearance of oil and redness. You can even use primer alone over your moisturizer for a fresh and flawless look.

  1.      APPLY YOUR FOUNDATION LIKE A PRO

Find a foundation that matches your skin’s surface tone and undertones. Choose a matte finish if you’re on the oily side or a radiant finish if your skin is dry. Using a Beauty Blender sponge or foundation brush, apply color starting in the center of the face, working your way outward.

  1.      USE CONCEALER

Apply concealer under eyes from the lash line to the top of the cheekbone in a “V” shape. Use a creamy formula if you have fine lines or dry eye skin, otherwise go for a matte. Gently tap in with your ring finger to blend. Use your concealer to spot cover imperfections on any other areas of your face.

  1.      SET IT WITH POWDER

I know what you’re thinking, but many of the newest powders leave your skin with a healthy glow and are not the uber-matte type that settles into fine lines. Choose a translucent powder or one with a slight yellow finish if you have a deeper skin tone. Using a puff (my fave is Laura Mercier) gently press and roll to set.

Viole! A flawless, even-toned complexion that can take you from day to night.
