Cover Model Hayley Herms has been turning heads in both the Fashion & Music industry! Starting out at the age of 12 she knew what she wanted to be and just went for it!  Hayley Herms gives you an insight on who she is!!

What are your views or thoughts about the plus size industry?

I’ve been in the plus size industry for 10 years and I think in the past 2 years we’ve made such a huge progress, but in general, we have so much further to go! I can’t wait to see the day, I can buy the same thing a skinny girl is wearing, in store, in my size. As well as body diversity in more main stream magazines.

Do you feel the society accepts kurvy women?

I think there’s a lot more people in society that accept kurvy women, than we think, and I definitely feel the world see’s you as you see yourself, but in saying that, I do think there is a lot of negativity mainly coming from the main images we are forced to see – Movies, TV, YouTube, etc. and those images are of more thin and tall women. We must not hate these women for not looking diverse or like the average American woman (a size 18), it’s the entertainment business that chooses to think like this and pick/show us these images. Instead of changing to match these women, we need to embrace ourselves and be SEEN! Being you, being unique, having different sizes, colors, shapes – slamming it in people’s faces so it can’t be ignored that there are MORE diverse woman waiting to be heard and seen – that’s how society will change.

When did your love for music emerge?

Since the day I was born! I have drawings of myself with a microphone in my hand in every picture I drew of myself from Pre-K. I can’t explain exactly why or how I knew since such an early age, but I’ve blessed my whole life to know what career I want and where I want to go.

How would you describe your style of music?

Well if you have or haven’t been following my journey – my name is Hayley Herms and I sing rock n roll/blues/alternative type music (think Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, The Pretty Reckless), but if you follow my alter ego, you’d know my name is PARADOX and I rap – trap/mainstream/hip-hop type rap (think A$AP Mob, Kanye, TY$) .

Why did you want to become a fashion model?

Like I said, I’ve been a singer my whole life, but I was singer turned actor at 10, songwriter at 11, and model by 12. Naturally, through acting I got into modeling (very similar). It made me feel free because I felt like a chameleon. I loved being able to be a blank canvas and whole new person through fashion and I still do!

Who are your favorite artist and fashion designers?

I have so many favorite artists, but my must haves are The Beatles, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson, Kanye West, A$AP Mob, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Florence + The Machine. My favorite designer of all time is Alexander McQueen – I also love Olivier Rousting for Balmain.
