Over the holidays I went home to the bay area to visit my family.
Because they just moved I have only been there a few times and I wanted to try something new. They took me to the most amazing spot in Oakland called MUA. It’s a bar and restaurant that offers electric small plates, cocktails, and songs spun by a DJ.
It had a mixed crowd but later in the evening It could definitely turn into a pre-party. There was a bar downstairs and restaurant upstairs with lots of seating; and for the warmer weather they offer trendy patio seating. The food was amazing and the drinks were made just right.
They are especially known for their happy hour and I was thoroughly pleased. Because everything is small plates we ordered a ton of different dishes some which included: the fried chicken served with coleslaw and cornbread, mouth watering 24-hour pork spare ribs, collard greens seasoned to perfection, guacamole & chips, garlic prawns, and crab cakes just to name a few.
Plates were reasonably priced ranging from $11-30 each entree. The attire was very casual with a mix of night goers who you could tell were starting their evening off right. If you are looking for a place with some good eats, electric venue with dim lighting, and house tunes, look no further MUA is the perfect place to indulge. I’ll definitely be back with my girls for a solid start to a girl’s night out in the bay area. ENJOY!
